If you're anything like me, then the constant increase in the number of so called "celebrities" a.k.a. talentless morons who harass us at the flick of every magazine page and the turn of every street corner is becoming far too much to bear.
It seems actual talent must come after good looks and by this I mean blonde hair, pretty eyes, big boobs, and all the usual clicheed attractive features. Although this in itself is bad enough, the fact that these features can now be bought has taken the talent situation from bad to worse. Previously celebrities of dubious talent levels possessed almost flawless natural beauty yet, now any unfortunate looking soul, may, with the help of hair extensions, contact lenses - and in extreme cases a surgeon- be worthy of celebrity status; despite being about as captivating as a rotting plank of wood.
Talent has truly become a fluid concept!
But where does this leave people who are actually blessed with a gift worthy of the world's attention? Their genius is often left unsung. This bothers me because I know several talented individuals and though I may be biased I'm sure most people would agree that they are more worthy of our time than certain characters whose antics never fail to make the headlines.
I know people who dream of being actors, musicians, dancers etc, and they're bloody good too, but it seems that without the willingness to pose naked, dye their hair blonde, get numerous tatoos and - for the white ones among them - walk around looking like they've just been tangoed; getting noticed within these industries will be a long up hill struggle........so people I hope you've been working out hard core at the gym, I hope you've got the dye kits out and your contact lenses are at the ready.....but, if you're one of the few people who is firmly attached to their integrity and self worth, then I hope you're prepared to work damn hard! ; )
